How to Cross-Tabulate Survey Results (With a Chi-Square Test)
A crosstab compares the answers to one survey question against another, and a chi-square test checks whether the difference is bigger than chance alone would usually produce. Built in SurveyRock, then read, widened with a second question and exported.

Are customers who heard about you from a friend more satisfied? A crosstab answers that, with a significance test. Here's one in SurveyRock.
Open the survey's responses and choose Crosstab. Put satisfaction in the rows and how people first heard about you in the columns, then click Generate.
Column percent shows how each group answered. The amber cell stands out from what you'd expect if the two were unrelated: very satisfied customers who came through a friend. The test underneath is significant, so the answers are related in these responses. It doesn't show that one causes the other.
Add Variable puts another question beside it, here how long they've been a customer, with its own total and its own test. This one finds no significant relationship.
Export the table to Excel or CSV, with every column and its test. This is SurveyRock — start free at surveyrock.com.
The survey data shown in this video is a demo account's, not a customer's.
