SurveyRock vs Qualtrics

Need survey answers, not an XM platform?

Qualtrics' pricing pages list one paid price, Strategic Research online at $5,040 a year for 1,000 responses, and price the rest of its experience-management suite on request. SurveyRock runs customer, employee and research surveys, groups open-text answers into themes (on Growth), and publishes the price of every self-serve plan.

Qualtrics and SurveyRock both run serious surveys; they part ways on research methods and on how you buy.

Stay with Qualtrics if you run conjoint or MaxDiff, buy panel respondents, or are a US federal agency that needs FedRAMP.

Switch if your team mostly sends surveys and reads the answers: SurveyRock does that at a published monthly price.

What Qualtrics' listed price buys, next to ours

Qualtrics' pricing pages list one paid price. Here is what it buys, next to the two SurveyRock plans closest to it.

  • Qualtrics Strategic Research online, $420/mo billed annually ($5,040 a year): 1,000 responses in total, shared across unlimited users; unlimited surveys and questions; 23 question types; 20+ guided solutions including conjoint and MaxDiff; crosstabs and statistical analysis tools.
  • SurveyRock Growth, $179/mo or $1,790/yr: 50,000 responses a month and 10 staff seats; AI theme detection with sentiment, drafted executive summaries, Theme Impact, key driver analysis, crosstabs and SPSS export.
  • SurveyRock Pro, $349/mo or $3,490/yr: 100,000 responses a month and 25 staff seats; adds response weighting and SAML or OpenID Connect single sign-on.

They are not the same product. If your study needs conjoint, MaxDiff or recruited respondents, the Qualtrics plan does something ours does not. If it needs more than 1,000 responses, Qualtrics sends you to its sales team, and our published plans go to 100,000 a month.

Where SurveyRock wins

Every self-serve price on the page, billed monthly if you like

Qualtrics' pricing pages list one paid price, $5,040 a year billed annually for Strategic Research online, and price everything else on request. SurveyRock publishes every self-serve plan from Free to Pro and bills monthly or yearly. Every new account gets 14 days of Growth with no credit card.

Far more responses for the money

Qualtrics' published plan includes 1,000 responses in total for $5,040 a year. SurveyRock Growth includes 50,000 a month for $1,790 a year, and Pro 100,000 a month for $3,490. On Solo and above, extra responses are $20 a month per 5,000.

Themes, drivers and owned actions from $179 a month

Growth groups open-text answers into themes with sentiment, drafts an executive summary, shows which themes come up disproportionately among low- or high-scoring respondents, and ranks which questions move most closely with an outcome you pick, such as NPS: the answer most teams run a regression for. Then assign Actions with an owner, a due date, and a baseline and current value. Actions are on every plan.

Stay with Qualtrics if…

You run conjoint or MaxDiff studies

Qualtrics' Strategic Research includes 20+ guided solutions, among them conjoint, MaxDiff, concept testing and video diaries. SurveyRock offers none of them. If your research runs on trade-off or preference modelling, stay with Qualtrics.

You buy respondents, not just survey your own

Qualtrics can put your study in front of a panel of recruited participants, targeted by criteria you set. SurveyRock doesn't supply respondents: you survey your own customers, employees or audience.

If your team mostly sends surveys and reads the answers, that's the part SurveyRock does, at a price you can see.

Questions people ask

Is SurveyRock a good Qualtrics alternative?

For NPS, CSAT, employee pulse and product research surveys with AI analysis of the open-text answers, yes, at a published price. For conjoint, MaxDiff, recruited panels, regression or a FedRAMP requirement, no. Those are Qualtrics' strengths, and SurveyRock doesn't offer them.

How much does Qualtrics cost compared with SurveyRock?

Qualtrics' pricing pages list one paid price: Strategic Research online at $420 a month, billed annually ($5,040), for 1,000 responses shared across all users. Its customer, employee and larger research products are priced on request. SurveyRock Growth is $179 a month or $1,790 a year for 50,000 responses a month; Pro is $349 a month or $3,490 a year for 100,000. Every new account gets 14 days of Growth free, no credit card required.

Does Qualtrics have a free plan?

Yes. Its free account allows 3 active surveys, 30 questions per survey and 500 responses in total, counting retaken and deleted responses, with no email distribution and no analytics tools such as Text iQ, Stats iQ or crosstabs. SurveyRock's Free plan allows 100 responses a month across 3 surveys of up to 10 questions, without email invitations.

Can I move from Qualtrics to SurveyRock?

Yes, with files you export yourself. There's no Qualtrics importer, and SurveyRock doesn't read Qualtrics' .qsf survey file. Build the survey in SurveyRock from a template, or import your questions from a Word or text file. Then export your responses from Qualtrics as CSV or Excel and load them with SurveyRock's response import, which maps each column to a question and shows a preview before any response is saved. We haven't tested Qualtrics' own export files with either import, so check the preview. On a free Qualtrics account, export first: Qualtrics deletes free accounts after 13 months of inactivity. Talk to us if you'd like help planning the move.

Does SurveyRock do conjoint or MaxDiff?

No. Neither is built today. If your research depends on them, Qualtrics is the better choice.

Does SurveyRock do regression?

Not as a coefficient table, but key driver analysis (Growth) answers the question most teams run a regression for: which of your questions move together most closely with your score, and how much of the score they explain together. It uses relative weights, a method built for survey answers that are correlated with each other, where ordinary regression coefficients can point the wrong way. It shows which answers move with the score, not what causes it, and it has no p-values yet.

Is SurveyRock SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certified?

No. SurveyRock holds no certifications today; SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 are on our roadmap. Our DPA is self-serve at surveyrock.com/dpa.
