Asking good questions shouldn't be a luxury good
SurveyRock exists because getting honest answers from people — and actually understanding them — was either expensive and complicated, or cheap and shallow. We've spent fourteen years refusing that choice.
Where this started
SurveyRock opened for business in 2012. The survey market then belonged to a few giants: capable platforms with price tags and complexity to match, built for organizations with research departments and procurement budgets. Everyone else got afterthought tools. We thought the teams in between — the ones with real questions and no enterprise research budget — deserved a serious option: simpler to use, faster to start, priced like a tool rather than a commitment. Fourteen years and millions of answered questions later, that's still who we build for; the bar for what they deserve has just kept rising.
Then we started over
A platform accumulates decisions the way a house accumulates wiring — each addition reasonable, the whole increasingly tangled. After a decade of building, we knew more about surveys, about software, and about what our customers actually do with feedback than the original foundation could express. So we spent three years rebuilding SurveyRock from the ground up. Not a redesign — a clean slate, carrying forward fourteen years of lessons and none of the legacy. At every decision, large or small, we asked the same question: knowing everything we know now, what's the right way to build this? And the timing mattered: starting fresh when we did meant AI could be designed into the foundation, rather than bolted onto a platform that predates it.
Help any team ask, understand, and act on feedback — from customers, employees, or anyone whose answer matters — fast, and without complexity.
We're building toward research that runs the way your team does — people and their AI agents asking, understanding, and acting through the same platform, at the speed decisions actually need.
"Simple or powerful" is a false choice
When we first surveyed the market, every tool made you pick: easy to use but shallow, or capable but punishing. We've spent fourteen years refusing to accept that trade-off, and the rebuild renews the refusal with modern tools.
In the product: A drag-and-drop builder anyone can use on day one — carrying skip logic, branching, conditional display, matrix and ranking questions, and file uploads without leaving it.
Respondents are people, not data points
Every survey is an imposition on someone's time, and most survey software treats that person as the product's exhaust. We obsess over the answering experience so that the only thing a survey costs a respondent is a little time.
In the product: The survey-taking experience is designed and reviewed as carefully as the survey-building one — down to the wording of system messages.
Honest answers deserve to be read
Open-text responses are the most truthful data a survey collects and the least likely to be read — nobody has time for five thousand verbatims. We think that's a scandal, and AI finally makes it fixable.
In the product: Theme detection and sentiment analysis read every open-text answer — not a sample — and executive summaries make the findings impossible to shelve.
AI sharpens your judgment; it doesn't replace it
AI in SurveyRock drafts, analyzes, and summarizes — and then hands the result to you. Nothing AI generates reaches your respondents or your stakeholders without a person accepting it.
In the product: Every AI generation — surveys, questions, summaries — is an accept, edit, or discard proposition. There is no autopilot.
No spin, ever
We answer questions the way we'd want vendors to answer ours — including the questions whose honest answer is "not yet." Certifications we don't hold are stated as roadmap, not implied.
In the product: Our trust page lists SOC 2 as "on our roadmap" instead of hiding behind vague compliance language, and our AI page answers "do you train on my data?" with one word: no.
Pricing that holds still
Your bill should be the most boring thing about your survey platform. While the industry experiments with usage meters and AI surcharges that turn invoices into weather, our plans stay flat and predictable.
In the product: Flat plans with included AI credits; no per-response charges; no surprise line items.
