The best Google Forms alternative depends on what you’ve outgrown. For a free swap with more logic and design, try Tally. If your team runs on Microsoft 365, try Microsoft Forms. For question-level logic and no platform branding, look at SurveyRock. To take payments, use Jotform. For one-question-at-a-time forms, use Typeform.
If your survey is simple and free matters most, you may not need to move at all. We make SurveyRock, so it’s first on this list, and we’ve used the same format for every tool, including ours, with the catch for each.

When to stay on Google Forms
Google Forms is free, and each form can take up to 500,000 responses. If you’re running a sign-up sheet, a class quiz or a quick internal poll, and everyone has a Google account, it’s a good tool and there’s no reason to pay for another.
Where Google Forms runs out
Four common reasons to move:
- Logic. Branching works at section level, from multiple choice or dropdown questions only. To show one follow-up question, you give it its own section.
- Branding. We found no setting in Google’s documentation to remove its footer, on any plan.
- Question types. There’s no ranking question.
- Analysis. Gemini summaries work on 3 to 200 responses and need an eligible Google Workspace or Google AI plan.
1. SurveyRock
Best for: teams that want survey logic, no platform branding and analysis of open-text answers.
The Free plan gives you 100 responses a month across 3 surveys. Solo is $35 a month or $350 a year, with 2,500 responses a month, skip logic, display logic and no SurveyRock branding. Your own logo and colors start at Team, $79 a month or $790 a year. From Growth at $179 a month, theme detection groups open-text answers, and AI drafts an executive summary. New accounts get 14 days of Growth with no credit card.
The catch: the Free plan has no logic and caps surveys at 10 questions, so for a long free form, Google Forms wins. SurveyRock doesn’t collect payments. We hold no SOC 2 or ISO certification today; both are on our roadmap.

2. Tally
Best for: people who want a free form builder with more logic and design than Google Forms.
Tally’s free plan offers unlimited forms and submissions within its fair usage guidelines, with conditional logic, payments and file uploads. Pro is $29 a month or $290 a year, removes Tally’s branding and adds team workspaces and custom domains. Business is $89 a month or $890 a year.
The catch: it’s a form builder, so survey analysis isn’t the focus. Check its fair usage guidelines if you expect high volume.
3. Microsoft Forms
Best for: organizations that already run on Microsoft 365.
Microsoft Forms is available to Microsoft 365 work and school users and to anyone with a Microsoft account. It covers surveys, polls and quizzes, with question-level branching and ranking, Likert and NPS questions.
The catch: a free personal account takes up to 200 responses per form. For more advanced branding, question types and analysis, Microsoft points people to Dynamics 365 Customer Voice.
4. Jotform
Best for: forms that take payments or need signed documents.
The free Starter plan gives you 100 submissions a month across 5 forms, with Jotform’s branding. Bronze is $39 a month or $408 a year at list price, with 1,000 submissions a month, and removes the branding. Check its pricing page for any current offer.
The catch: it’s a form builder first, and its ranking question is a separate widget. See how it compares, or compare seven Jotform alternatives.
5. Typeform
Best for: forms where the feel of answering matters, shown one question at a time.
Basic is $39 a month or $327 a year for 100 responses a month. Plus is $79 a month or $663 a year for 1,000 responses and removes Typeform’s branding.
The catch: coming from Google Forms, response limits are the big change. Basic’s 100 responses a month is a small fraction of what Google Forms allows for free. See how it compares, or compare six Typeform alternatives.
6. SurveyMonkey
Best for: teams that want a familiar survey tool with a broad feature set.
The free Basic plan gives you 10 questions per survey and a limited number of responses you can view. Paid plans start at $468 a year, billed annually, or $149 a month if you need monthly billing.
The catch: removing its branding starts at $1,668 a year, and going over your limit costs $0.15 a response. See every SurveyMonkey plan and what it really costs, or compare seven SurveyMonkey alternatives.
How to choose
- It needs to stay free: Tally, or stay on Google Forms.
- You’re on Microsoft 365: Microsoft Forms.
- You need question-level logic and no platform branding: SurveyRock Solo. For your own logo and colors, Team.
- You need to take payments: Jotform or Tally.
- You want a polished one-at-a-time form: Typeform.
Before you switch
Download your responses from the form’s Responses tab as a CSV first. Each tool imports differently, so test a small file. SurveyRock imports responses from a CSV or Excel file into a survey you’ve already built, and questions from a Word or text file. It doesn’t import a Google Form directly.
Questions people ask about Google Forms alternatives
What is the best free alternative to Google Forms?
Tally is the closest match, with unlimited forms and submissions on its free plan, within fair usage guidelines. Microsoft Forms is the obvious choice if you’re on Microsoft 365.
What is better than Google Forms for surveys?
A dedicated survey tool, once you need question-level logic, no platform branding or analysis of open-text answers. SurveyRock, SurveyMonkey and Typeform are all built around surveys.
Can I remove the Google branding from a form?
We found no setting for it in Google’s documentation, on free or paid plans. Workspace admins can offer a branded theme for their organization, but we found nothing that removes the footer.
Does Google Forms have a response limit?
Yes. From September 2026, Google says each form can take up to 500,000 responses and 1 GB of storage.
Facts checked on each tool’s own pages on 2 November 2026, in US dollars. SurveyMonkey’s US prices are from a check on 24 September 2026, because it shows prices by visitor country. If we’ve got something wrong, tell us and we’ll fix it.
