Use SurveyRock from Claude

SurveyRock runs an MCP server at https://app.surveyrock.com/mcp. Add it to Claude as a connector and you can ask Claude, in plain language, to build a survey, publish it, share it and read its results. Claude does this in your SurveyRock account, in the one workspace you choose, and only as far as you could yourself.

It’s available on every plan, Free included.

You sign in with your SurveyRock account. There’s no API token to create or copy.

  1. In Claude (claude.ai), open Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Click Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Enter a name (for example, SurveyRock) and paste the address https://app.surveyrock.com/mcp.
  4. Click Connect. You’re taken to SurveyRock. Sign in if you aren’t already.
  5. On the consent screen, pick the workspace Claude should work in, read what it will be allowed to do, and click Allow.

SurveyRock is not yet listed in Claude’s connector directory, so you add it with the address above. Which Claude plans can add custom connectors is set by Anthropic; see Claude’s help center.

To use SurveyRock in more than one workspace, connect once per workspace. Each connection is bound to the workspace chosen when it was made.

The consent screen lists these permissions, and Connected apps shows them again later:

  • See your surveys, their questions and their results
  • Create and change surveys and their questions, and publish them
  • Create, start and pause survey links, QR codes and embeds
  • Export responses to a file
  • See and add contacts

Every action is checked against your own role in the workspace. If you couldn’t do something in SurveyRock yourself, Claude can’t do it either.

These are deliberate:

  • Delete a survey. No connected app or API token can delete a survey. Deleting is done in SurveyRock.
  • Switch a survey off or hide it. A survey’s active status is read-only through the API. To stop collecting responses, Claude pauses the survey’s link.
  • Manage billing, members, roles or workspace settings.
  • See respondents’ email addresses, IP addresses or sensitive answers. A connected app never receives respondent email addresses, IP addresses, or answers to questions marked sensitive, on any plan. Other answers, including open-text answers, are visible to it like any other result. The workspace’s contacts are separate: with the See and add contacts permission, Claude can read them, including their email addresses.
  • Work outside the chosen workspace.

Not available through the connector yet:

  • Inserting a question in the middle of a page, or moving a question (new questions go at the end of the survey or of a chosen page)
  • Dropdown questions
  • SurveyRock’s AI features (survey drafting, themes, summaries)
  • Workflows, email campaigns, templates and media
  • Requests: a connected app gets at least 1,000 requests a day through the connector, on every plan.
  • Plan limits still apply, for example the number of questions a survey can have. A request over a limit is refused, and Claude is told why.
  • The REST API itself (calling /api/v1 with your own token) is on Solo and above. See Getting started.

Claude sees 23 tools. Each one is a single SurveyRock API operation, so it follows the same rules as the API.

Tool What it does
list_surveys List the workspace’s surveys, with ids, names and status
get_survey Get one survey: name, description, language, status and settings
create_survey Create a survey, optionally with all its questions in the same call
update_survey Change a survey’s name, description, language or settings
list_survey_questions List a survey’s questions in order, with each question’s element id, type, text, settings and page
add_questions Add questions after the last question of the survey or of one page; a question with a page title starts a new page
update_question Change a question’s text, help text or settings
delete_question Remove a question. An unanswered question is deleted; an answered one is retired and its answers stay in the results
check_survey_ready_to_publish Check whether a survey can be published, and list what would stop it
publish_survey Publish the current draft as the new live version

Question types create_survey and add_questions accept: text, multiple choice, rating scale, matrix, slider, NPS, yes/no, email, date, ranking and file upload.

Tool What it does
create_distributor Create a way to share a survey: a web link, QR code, website embed, social post and others. It starts as a draft
list_distributors List a survey’s links, QR codes, embeds and social posts, with their status
get_distributor Get one distributor: its URL, channel, status and settings
activate_distributor Start collecting responses through a distributor
pause_distributor Stop collecting through a distributor until it is resumed
resume_distributor Start collecting again through a paused distributor
Tool What it does
get_results_summary How many people answered each question, completion statistics and a 30-day completion trend (counts, not the answers)
list_responses Individual responses, one row per answer, each carrying its question’s element id
request_export Start an export of a survey’s responses to CSV, Excel or SPSS
get_export_status Check whether an export is ready
get_export_download_url Get a short-lived download link for a finished export

Exports made through a connected app leave out respondent email addresses, IP addresses, answers marked sensitive and sensitive contact fields.

Tool What it does
list_contacts List or search the workspace’s contacts
create_contact Add one person to the workspace’s contacts

Open your account menu in SurveyRock and choose Connected apps. It lists every app you’ve connected, with the workspace it uses, who published it, its permissions, when it was connected and when it was last used.

Click Disconnect to end a connection. It stops working at once; Claude has to be connected again to use SurveyRock. Leaving a workspace, or archiving it, also ends any connections to it. A connection unused for 30 days stops working; connect again to use it.

Disconnecting SurveyRock inside Claude stops Claude using it, but the connection can still be listed here until you end it. If you want it gone from SurveyRock’s side too, click Disconnect on this page.

Claude builds what you describe, and it can misread a request. Before you share a survey Claude made, open it in SurveyRock or ask Claude to list its questions back to you, and check the scales and answer choices.

Add the server from a terminal:

Terminal window
claude mcp add --transport http surveyrock https://app.surveyrock.com/mcp

Then run /mcp in Claude Code and choose SurveyRock to sign in. The same consent screen, workspace choice and limits apply.

The server follows the MCP Streamable HTTP transport and signs clients in with OAuth. We’ve tested it with Claude (claude.ai) and Claude Code.
