What Is Skip Logic?
A rule that sends a respondent forward to a specific later question — skipping everything in between — based on how they answered an earlier one.
Skip logic jumps a respondent past a block of questions that don’t apply to them. “If you answered No to Q3, skip to Q7” means respondents who answer No never see questions 4 through 6 at all — the survey moves on as if those questions weren’t there for them.
This is different from conditional logic, which shows or hides a single question in place rather than jumping the respondent ahead in the sequence. Skip logic is the right tool when an entire section only applies to some respondents (e.g., a whole block of “tell us about your recent purchase” questions that should be skipped entirely by anyone who hasn’t purchased).
Without skip logic, every respondent has to click through every question regardless of relevance — which is one of the fastest ways to trigger survey fatigue and drive up abandonment.
Example
"Have you used our support team in the last 30 days?" — if No, skip directly to the final question, bypassing 5 support-specific questions.
