Survey Builder

The survey builder is drag-and-drop — build a survey by adding, reordering, and configuring questions on a canvas, no code required. Every survey uses one of three display formats: classic (paged), chat, or single-page. Templates and folders help you start from something close to what you need.

Surveys can be published in a single language with localized system messages, RTL support, and locale-aware formatting. Multi-language surveys with a respondent-facing language switcher aren’t available yet.

19 question types are available, plus a text/image display element for non-question content:

  • Text & basic input — short text, long text, email, date
  • Choice — multiple choice (single or multi-select), yes/no, image choice
  • Scales — rating, NPS (with dedicated Promoter/Passive/Detractor analytics), slider
  • Matrix / grid — Likert, bipolar, and text-entry matrix variants
  • Ranking & allocation — rank order, group rank, constant sum
  • Media — file upload, photo submission, audio response, video response
  • Other — signature capture (with validation), CAPTCHA, and a text/image display element for non-question content

For what each type does, when to use it, and the settings that matter, see Question types.

Quiz scoring is available on multiple choice, image choice, rating, and matrix questions, with automatic aggregation into a respondent score.

  • Skip and display logic — show or hide questions and pages based on prior answers, with server-side evaluation and logic versioning
  • Branching — conditional paths through the survey
  • Piping and merge tags — reuse a respondent’s own words or prior answers later in the survey
  • Carry-forward — carry selected choices from one question into the options of another
  • Loop logic — repeat a block of questions per item in a list (e.g., “for each product you selected…”)
  • Calculated fields — compute values from other answers using formulas
  • Embedded data — pass custom variables in via the survey URL for use in logic or piping
  • Randomization — randomize element, choice, and statement order within a page; randomize page-level blocks with a seeded shuffle that persists per respondent so a resumed session never reshuffles; show a random subset of pages (“show X of Y”); balance exposure across variants with “even presentation” mode
  • Quotas — cap total responses, or set answer-based quota cells keyed off a source question; preview responses never count against a quota
  • A/B testing — test survey variants (and email campaign subject lines) against each other

Every survey starts with a basic theme. Premium themes, a custom theme editor, background images, and a shared brand kit are available on paid tiers, along with AI-generated themes and custom CSS. See Account & Billing for what’s included at each tier.
